Total fit-out design and full Project Management of this new funky cafe.
Business: Frank’s Eatery - Cafe
Tenancy: Foyer of Ramada Hotel in Frankton, Queenstown
frank (adj.) To be honest, unrestrained, bold, straightforward.
A fresh, bold menu of locally and ethically sourced ingredients required an equally fresh design that could articulate the food brand concept within the interior.
Design Challenges: It was a problematic layout proposition, as the tenancy spans the 6m wide hotel foyer entry, creating ‘abysses’ and split spaces. We had to look at ways to create an internal seating plan and interior that linked the two spaces and created a hybrid of activity within the hotel foyer. To be successful, the business needed to attract loyal regular patrons beyond hotel guests, so it was vital to be seen as a destination cafe that would draw in locals, families, workers, and shoppers from the neighbouring retail centre. We achieved this by creating a vibrant interior, with raw pared back concrete walls and columns, feature lighting, feature steelwork and a cleaver use of the spaces.
